Hello, Rohan. Even though, you pass Class 12 in 2021 and do not appear in JEE Main in the same year, you have two more opportunities in the next consecutive years to write the competitive exam. Hence, if you appear in JEE Mains 2022 and if you wish to appear again to fetch better results, you can appear again in 2023.
In other words, you are eligible for 3 consecutive years starting from the year of passing 12th board examination i.e. 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Hello Aspirant,
See if you are passing your class 12th in 2021 then you are eligible for JEE-Main 2021, 2022 and 2023 and if you qualify either JEE-Main 2021 or 2022 then you will be eligible for JEE-Advance 2021 0r 2022 because a candidate can appear for maximum of two consecutive years for JEE-Advance and for three consecutive years for JEE-Main and if you leave any of your attempt then also you will not be given any extra attempt. So if you take a break for this year then you can definitely appear for JEE-Main 2022 and 2023 and if you qualify JEE-Main 2022 then you can also appear for JEE-Advance 2022 but you will not be able to sit for JEE-Advance 2023 even if you qualify JEE-Main 2023.
There are some criterion which you need to satisfy in order to appear for JEE-Main so let us discuss them.
1--- Age criteria :- There is no age limit to appear in JEE-Main but note that there might be the age limit in any particular institution taking admission through JEE-Main score, so you should keep this thing in mind.
2--- Qualifying Examination :- To be eligible for JEE-Main one should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry as mandatory subjects from any of the recognized central or state board.
3--- Year of qualification :- For JEE-Main 2022 only those candidates who have passed Class 12 / equivalent examination in 2020, 2021 or 2022; or those who are appearing in Class 12th / equivalent examination in 2022, are eligible to appear.
So if you follow all above criterion then you are definitely eligible for JEE-Main.
