If I study good and score 8.6 CGPA in dcrust murthal (mechanical engineering) can I expect a placements of package 5lakh per annum

I would like to inform you that this is one of the major misconceptions that people have that if they score good CGPA the are bound to get good placement. But the bitter truth is that this is actually not the case. CGPA's are just a criteria whether you can sit for a certain company during placement or not. What companies actually look for is the knowledge that you have regarding the core subjects. So, maintain a cgpa around 8 and focus on core subjects more.
