Hello Ashis,

Following would be the steps you need to follow one by one to be able to join the Indian Army -

  • You can be part of the Indian Air Force family by applying for NDA( National Defence Academy).
  • You can join NDA by taking the exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This exam is conducted twice a year in all major cities throughout India.

The eligibility criteria of UPSC is as follows -

  • Age - 16 ½ to 19 years(at the time of commencement of course)
  • Nationality – Indian
  • Gender - Men only
  • Educational Qualifications - 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics. Appearing final year students can also eligible to apply.

NDA is the only option after passing 12th to join the Indian Ari Force, however, if you do your graduation or Engineering, many other ways are available to join the Indian Ari Force.

CDSE Entry: - If in case you were wise and didn’t opt for engineering and instead got into B.Sc. course, or any other corresponding course, you can give CDS Exam, again conducted by UPSC twice a year. Engineering graduates can also apply.

AFCAT – Air Force Common Admission Test -

The eligibility is - graduation (min 3 years) in any discipline with min 60% marks and must have passed Maths and Physics as a subject at 10+2 level B.E/ B.Tech from a recognized University with min 60% marks.

The test is conducted twice a year in February and August.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!
