There are some IITs which are equally good in terms of a Management education and have good reputation in industry like VGSOM IIT Kharagpur and Sailesh J Mehta of IIT Bombay.
NITs or VIT are pretty average institutions in terms of MBA. They are good for Engineering only and not very sought after for an MBA degree.
But there are other top colleges which offer good management studies like
- MDI Gurgaon
- XLRI Jamshedpur (accepts XAT scores)
- NMIMS Mumbai (accepts NMAT scores)
- JBIMS Mumbai
- SPJIMR Mumbai
- FORE School of Management
- IMT Ghaziabad
- IMI Delhi
- KJ Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research
- Great Lakes Chennai
You can get all these colleges through CAT (except XLRI and NMIMS)
To prepare for various competitive exams so can follow the books of Arun Sharma and Sarvesh Verma for the quantitative aptitude part, for English you can read daily newspapers and follow magazines like The Economist and for reasoning the previous year questions would suffice.
All the very best
