Eligibility Criteria for the post of Mechanical Diploma Engineer is as follows:

• Education Qualification: Full time regular Diploma in Mechanical/ Production Engineering with minimum 70% marks.
• Minimum Percentage in Education: 70%(Gen/OBC), Pass Marks(SC/ST/PWD)
• Age Requirement: 25 (Gen), 28 (OBC), 30 (SC/ST), 35 (PWD)

If you clear all these criteria then you are absolutely eligible for NTPC.

According to the official notice the age limit for undergraduate posts is 18-30 years and it also demands passing of class 11 and 12 standards for the undergraduate candidates.So yes if you are having a diploma degree from a recognized college you are eligible for the exam and with the commerce degree it will create no problem.
