Hello Abhishek

Hope you are doing well.

First of all , to answer your question I would like to tell you that the stats of each college keep changing every year.

They can be higher or lower than what they were a year ago. There are several factors that affect the placement records.

Also the profile of the students that have been selected in the college and very importantly the 'market scenario'

But yes , we cannot deny the fact that the colleges which are better and have better brand value will always have a better placement record.

Now coming back to your question what is better for comparison - "average package" or "highest package".

I would say the highest package speaks about the capability of the institute to get good companies on the campus who hire the best students and offer handsome packages.

And this highest package talks about the 1% population of the institute as we know not everyone is a part of this record.

So if you have an amazing profile that will fit into the job requirement of the huge MNCs or other organizations that are offering higher packages than other companies. Then you can definitely think considering this college.

But more than 'highest package' , its the average package that takes into consideration all of its candidates , people of different profiles  , people of different backgrounds and all the specializations together. This dissolves into it all the parameters like the lowest package , the number of students , the peecentage of students placed and gives a standard number to the college in the form a average package.

So if you really want to understand the placement scenario you should check what are the highest and average packages that are offered to students from a particular specialization for example marketing students get average 8 lakhs and highest  14 lakhs .

With this information you can get an idea where you can land yourself into.

Hope this info helped!

Hello Abhishek,

Talking about choosing between average package and highest package in terms of placement, I would suggest you to go for the average package at first because expectations of the company offering highest package is very high and being a fresher you'll face so much of burden.

Opting for the average package at first will keep you stable and you'll enjoy your work.

Increments do happen timely.
