Hello Kajal,

With 81 percentile in JEE Mains under the SC category, you have a good chance of getting a government seat (free seat) in NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs through JoSAA counselling. You may get branches like Civil, Mechanical, Metallurgy, or Chemical Engineering in lower-ranked NITs or better branches in newer NITs and IIITs.

For state quota seats, check your home state NIT cutoff as the chances improve with the home state reservation.

I would recommend you to use JEE Mains College Predictor Tool by Careers360 to get the list of possible colleges you can get with your rank or percentile.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries then feel free to share your questions with us we will be happy to assist you.

With 81 percentile in JEE Mains under the SC category , you may qualify for admission to NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs through the reservation quota . Selection depends on cutoffs, seat availability, and branch preference .

Possibility of a Free Seat:

  1. Government Institutions – Fee waivers may be available under CSAB counseling or state scholarship programs .
  2. Private Colleges – Some institutes offer financial aid or fee concessions based on category and merit.

Check JoSAA/CSAB counseling cutoffs and state-specific quota policies for detailed eligibility.

With 81% in JEE Mains and SC category reservation, you have a good chance of securing a seat in government colleges under JoSAA or state counseling. Admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs depends on cutoff trends, which vary each year. If your percentile meets the cutoff for these institutes, you may qualify for a tuition fee waiver under schemes like the PMSSS or state-specific fee reimbursement programs.
