Hi aspirant

A gap year, also called a sabbatical year, is a semester or a full year break that is taken by a student after completing class 12 before joining an undergraduate degree.

A gap year does not affect your eligibility in NEET. However you do have to submit a certificate signes by a gazetted officer to show what have you done during your gap period.

In your case you have a gap of 2 years and hence you'll have to get a gap certificate of 2 years.

You can get the GAP Affidavit made on a non judicial stamp paper stating the reason why you took a gap year. This stamp paper can be bought from courts, sub-registrar offices and notaries.

Hope this helps you.

All the best :)

Hello Prabha,

In NEET Counselling process, Gap Certificate is made or required for those students who either have repeated (took drop) for NEET Examination or have been studying in some other college for different course but now have completed the same. The importance of this certificate is to ensure that the Student is 100% genuine and not cheating with the college.

Gap Certificate is made from Tehsil Office of your area. If someone has appeared for his 12th in 2022 and on the same year appeared for NEET 2022 also, then he don't require to make his Gap Certificate.

But, in your question, someone has given his/her 12th Board examination in 2020. That means he/she has appeared for his/her 10th Board Examination in 2018. After that, he/she also appeared for 12th Board re-examination 2022 and NEET 2022. So, overall he/she have to make a Gap Certificate of 2 Years to prove that within this 2 Year tenure, the student is still not studying for any other course and not have been still studying for the same. This certificate will be irrespective of your NEET 2020. New 12th Marksheet of 2022 will be considered.

NOTE :- Gap Certificate will be made for tenure between 12th Board 2020 and 12th Board 2022 .
