CLAT 2025: Expected Cut Off & Past Trends | Marks vs Rank
Dear Max,
CLAT or Common Law Admission Test is held every year by various National Law Universities across the country.
As per your question you need to look at the The CLAT guidelines that clearly mention that the Candidates who are apprearing in the qualifying exams (Board exams) in 2019 are also eligible to apply for the exam.
Also, if they are selected on the basis of entrance result they will have to provide proof of passing the qualifying exams during the counselling that they will be called for. NLUs ask for passing certificate during counselling and additional documents which they would specify once you clear the entrance exam.
So, for you to get admission in NLUs you must have a passing certificate with you and they would also ask for you 12th marksheet for verification purposes.
The other CLAT eligiblity criteria are as follows:
1) Age criteria: The CLAT 2019 has revised it's guidelines and as per it, there will be no upper age limit for UG program.
Earlier the upper age limit was fixed at below 20 years for the unreserved, NRI and NRI sponsored and below 22 years for SC, ST, OBC and Specially abled category.
2) Educational qualification: You must have secured in class 12th or equivalent A minimum of 45% marks if you belong to Unreserved, OBC or specially abled category. You would require a minimum of 40% marks if you belong to SC/ST category.
So, provided you have above 40% or 45% marks in your Board exam, a passing certificate and have scored above the cut-off marks you will be eligible for counselling.
I would advise you to concentrate on clearing all your additional and compulsory papers so to eliminate any risk regarding apprearing for CLAT. Also, apart from CLAT there are many more similar exams you might want to apply for example:
1) LSAT India or Law School Admission Test.
2) All India Law Entrance Test or AILET.
3) Army Institute of Law B.A. LL.B Entrance Test or AIL Entrance Test S
4) Symbiosis Entrance Test or SET.
5) BVP CET Law entrance test.
I hope you have found the relevant information required for understanding what you need to do now.
Best of luck with your examinations.
Cheers,
Arpita Goon.
