if students fail in main subjects. shall it joind marks of optional subject.

I am sorry to say but if you fail in the main subject, then you cannot add you optional subject marks in place of it. As the name suggests, the main subject is the one which is counted in the first place unlike you optional subject. So if you fail in the main subject, then you need to appear for the compartment exam to clear it out.
