If there is only one subject differed for CSE and IT in b.tech, then why IT stream has more cutoff than CSE OR ECE?
The cutoff for CSE, IT, ECE etc depends on the college. It differs from one college to another. Usually the computer science course differs from IT in that it includes the study of both the hardware and software components whereas in IT only the software component is taken into account. There are many subjects that are different in the two branches.
Hi aspirant,
It's actually the opposite of what you have mentioned, cutoffs of CSE is more than that of IT. This is mainly because of two reasons, one is herd mentality and the other is IT can be called as a subset of CSE. Most companies prefer CS graduates over IT graduates simply because they are more versatile.
In the end, what matters is your college. If you're in a tier-1 college then it won't matter which branch you are from. IT companies allow students from all branches to sit for their placements.
All the best
