After IITs and NITs the best engineering colleges are IIITs, GFTIs and some other. IIITs or Indian Institutes of Information Technology are a group of institutes of higher education in India, focused on information technology. Five of them are established, funded and managed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development(MHRD). The rest are set up on the public-private partnership model.

Most of the IIITS and GFTIs give admissions based on JEE Main score and the admission is conducted through JoSAA counselling. IIIT Delhi conducts its admission through JAC counselling and IIIT Hyderabad hs its own procedures for the same.

As stated earlier, the date for getting admission in most of IIITa and GFTIs will be after JoSAA counselling which has been delayed on account of Covid19 pendemic.
