First of all, let me tell you, that selective study don't work in such exams.
The only key to crack this exam is full dedication and concentration with the right approach.
8 months are still left for exam, and if prepared in right manner with proper time table , you have chances to crack the exam.
There are 20 chapters in physics. Some of the chapters like
Dimensional Analysis
Gravitation
Electrostatics
Current Electricity
Heat Transfer
Electromagnetic Induction, Waves & Sound
Geometrical Optics
Thermodynamics
Kinetic Theory of Gases
Rotational Dynamics
require depth knowledge and practice.
First, you filter out the chapters that you find easy to understand. And start preparing for them.
Easy topics which can help you to score good marks in JEE Main 2018
Work, Energy and Power
Electrostatics
Current Electricity
Wave Optics
Ray Optics
Modern Physics
But it's not possible to build concepts in all the chapters in just 7-8 months.
Avoid chapters like rotation motion, wave motion , nuclear physics as these are lengthy and would take lot of your time.
Physics is very broad. Try to solve and start from basic questions.
Very basic questions comes from SHM, Modern physics , so focus more on basics.
Hope this helps.
Goodluck.
