The answer to this question isYES.
Allow me to elaborate, firstly, allow me to shed light upon the hierarchy of Technical Degrees in India
I. The Bachelor of Science(BSc.) in Computer Science(C.S.)/Information Technology(I.T.) is equivalent to the first year of the Bachelor of Technology(BTech.)/Bachelor of Engineering(B.E.) in C.S./I.T. programme as these graduates may seek lateral entry to the 2nd year of the 4-year BTech.-B.E. In C.S./I.T. programmes
II. The Master of Science(MSc.) in C.S./I.T. & the Master of Computer Applications(M.C.A.) are considered equivalent to the entire BTech./B.E. programme in C.S./I.T., as the graduates of all these programmes may seek admission to the Master of Technology(MTech.)/Master of Engineering(M.E.) in C.S./I.T.
III. The MTech./M.E. in C.S./I.T. is considered the highest order taught technical degree(as opposed to research oriented degrees such as the M.S. or the PhD.
1.)if a commerce student has studied mathematics as a subject at the Senior Secondary Level, then:
A) one may join a Bachelor of Science(BSc.) in Computer Science(C.S.)(3 years) from universities like the University of Delhi, this could be followed by either a Master of Science(MSc.)-C.S./Information Technology(I.T.)(2-years) or Master of Computer Application(M.C.A.)(3 years) or lateral entry to the M.C.A.(2 year) or take a lateral entry to the 2nd year of the Bachelor of Technology(BTech.)/Bachelor of Engineering in C.S./I.T., each of which could be followed by Master of Technology(MTech.)/Master of Engineering(M.E.
B) one may join a BTech. programme in I.T.(4 years) from the Cluster Innovation Centre of the University of Delhi(D.U.) which could be followed by a MTech./M.E.(2 year) in C.S./I.T.
C) one may complete a Bachelor of Computer Application(B.C.A.)/B.C.A.-M.C.A. integrated programme from universities such as Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi(G.G.S.I.P.U.-Delhi)
D) one May join a BSc.-I.T. programme
2.)if a commerce student has not studied mathematics as a subject at the Senior Secondary Level, then:
A) one may complete a BSc.-C.S. programme from universities like the Chanigah University, Punjab which allows students from all students from all streams to join the programme, & like the programme offered by D.U., this could be followed by an MSc.-C.S./I.T. or a regular/lateral entry M.C.A. or a lateral entry to the BTech.-C.S./I.T., all of which could be followed by an MTech.-C.S./I.T.
B) one may complete a BSc.-I.T. programme from universities such as Amity University/Jamia Hamdard University amongst others which allow commerce students to join this programme, much like the BSc.-C.S. programme, this too allows students to follow it up with an MSc.-C.S./I.T. or a regular/lateral entry M.C.A. or a lateral entry to the BTech.-C.S./I.T., all of which could be followed by an MTech.-C.S./I.T.
C) one may complete the B.C.A. programme from universities such as Amity University & Birla Institute of Technology,Mesra(& its other campuses) which allow students from any stream to join these programme, these could be followed by an MSc.-C.S./I.T. or a regular/lateral entry M.C.A. (lateral entry to the BTech.-C.S./I.T. is not possible after B.C.A.), all of which could be followed by an MTech.-C.S./I.T.
D.) one may take the exams of professional societies such as the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology(N.I.E.L.I.T.) which is an autonomous scientific society under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology(MoEIT) of the Union Government of the Republic of India. N.I.E.L.I.T. conducts examinations on 4 levels, i.e. the O Level(equivalent to a diploma in computer applications, duration: 1 year), the A level(equivalent to an advanced diploma in computer applications, duration: 1 year), the B level(equivalent to an M.C.A., duration: 2 years) & lastly the C level(equivalent to an MTech./M.E. in C.S., duration: 2 years). N.I.E.L.I.T. allows students from all streams to take its professional examinations & these are approved by the Union Government of India for the purpose of employment(all levels) & for the purpose of further studies(C level), although students of the B level may also apply to a few other universities(including one Institute of National a importance, i.e. Indian Statistical Institute(I.S.I.-Kolkata, West Bengal) for further studies.
E.) after the implementation of the Choice-Based-Credit-System(C.B.C.S.) in most universities nation-wide, one may take admission in any undergraduate degree & take C.S./I.T. as their Generic Elective subject for the first 4 consecutive semesters of the 6 semester programme which could constitute a Minor, thus enabling such students to pursue a Masters in that subject(i.e. MSc.-C.S./I.T. or M.C.A.), which could further be followed by an MTech./M.E. in C.S./I.T. For example, a student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts(B.A.)(Hons.) in Sociology or a Bachelor of Commerce(BCom.)(Hons.) may choose C.S./I.T. as his/her generic elective for the first 4 semesters which would enable him/her to pursue an MSc.-C.S./I.T. or an M.C.A.(REGULAR & NOT LATERAL ENTRY)
F.) one may complete any undergraduate degree with mathematics as a subject in its course of study to be eligible for an M.C.A.(regular &NOT LATERAL ENTRY), an example of this is the BCom.(H or P) which has mathematics as a subject. Thus BCom. graduates are eligible for an M.C.A.
G) Another aspect of this is the growing presence of Liberal Arts universities in India, which allow students from any stream to take select a major & a minor in any subject regardless of the students stream in Senior Secondary. These include Ashoka University, Sonepat, Haryana & FLAME School of Liberal Education, Pue, Maharashtra.
H) Another factor here is the new Vocational form of education, which allows students from any stream to study subjects such as software development regardless of stream in Senior Secondary.
I) Lastly, as another answer
Hopes it helps.
