Yes you can take admission as a lateral entry in Automobile engineering. However tere are certain eligibility criteria for this, which is as follows.

You should have completed you 12th with minimum 60% of marks. Some college also accepts 50% marks as eligibility criteria.

Besides this you need diploma degree. Which you said you have already completed.

Some of good colleges where you can apply are KIIT UNIVERSITY, SRM UNIVERSITY, MANIPAL UNIVERSITY, VIT UNIVERSITY ETC.
