I'm a student from Hyderabad, and planning for an undergraduate programme in BITS Hyd. A SAT score isn't necessary right? The eligibility for admission is merely based on my BITSAT score and board marks, not SAT?

Yes, the admission in BITS for undergraduate programme happens through the BITSAT examination only. Birla Institute of Technology and Science is a prestigious institute and holds a NIRF ranking of 6. The SATs are used for admission is BITS for foreign students.
If you want to take admission in any of the bits campuses, i.e, BITS Pilani, BITS Goa or BITS Hyderabad then your SAT score will not help you.
Because if you want this reputed institutions, them there is only one admission process and this is called BITSAT exam. If you have qualified BITSAT exam and you must have passd your class 12th board exams with a recognized board, along with aggregate of 75% in each physics, chemistry and mathematics as compulsory subjects.
Now if you score a good marks in BITSAT, that is, around more than 255 then you have a chance to get seat in BITS Pilani or BITS Goa or BITS Hyderabad. Otherwise without qualifying BITSAT exam you cannot get admission into any of the campuses of BITS.
YOU CANNOT GET ANY OF THE BITS CAMPUS WITH YOUR SAT SCORES. YOU ONLY HAVE TO QUALIFY BITSAT FOR GETTING ADMISSION IN THIS REPUTED INSTITUTION.
