Hello Aakash,
I personally use a lot of apps in my phone, which helps me build a management conscience, although, most of them are subsidiary to the main goal, and only a couple or so, have a direct influence on CAT.
Let me list down the Apps I use and their importance and the motive for using them :
PagalGuy - This might be the most important App in CAT prep and resolving doubts. I would recommend anyone attempting CAT to create an account on PagalGuy and follow the threads for all the exams, topics and institutes he/she is chasing.
CL eBooks - This app is useful for the GK prep and to go through the formulas. Anyone who has taken Mock CATs from Career Launcher (who has an account), can access the app and they have a year-long record of current affairs and static GK for exams like TISS, SNAP and XAT. The collection also helps in Interview Phase, as one might be asked about an ongoing issue.
NDL - The National Digital Library app is free to use and it has a lot of books one can go through. You can book on any subject matter and it even helps with Quant related books. Although I don't use it as often as I should, it helps.
News Apps : (I use a lot, because a CAT faculty once said, during an Interview prep session, to keep Apps from varied geographical areas to get a sense of how world news is reported across the globe)
AJ English - The Al Jazeera App is useful when it comes to the news regarding middle east, ISIL etc. They prefer not to detriment the quality of news and have very high reporting standards.
The Wire - They are an independent media outlet based in India. As we all know, most of the news channels in our country are a bit biased, I find ‘The Wire’ to be the only place that has proper news and articles about real issues. I also support their cause by donating, because they are basically a Non-profit organization.
BBC News - The BBC news app is probably the best when it comes to UK news apps. I personally don't use Huffington Post and prefer this one.
EuroNews - They have the best reporting timeline among other Apps and one place to know all that's going on in the European States. The breaking news is the fastest.
France24 - It is one of the best news agencies based on France and they too are more inclined towards Europe based news.
TheNewYorkTimes - The best thing about NYTimes is that unlike the Wallstreet Journal, they don't charge on almost all news. You can read great and long articles on the phone and probably the best news App on my phone.
TheWallStreetJournal - It's good but there are very few free to read articles, mostly asks for a subscription. I would say one better use the Washington Post rather than this one.
Other Apps : (Just to make sure I can read good articles on different topics)
Medium - Probably on its the way to becoming one of the best blogging Apps in the world. It is monetized in many countries (not in India) and one can read a lot of topics, channels etc. The best place to read good stuff on anything you are interested in.
Kindle (for Samsung) : I have an inbuilt Kindle App on my phone. And they give a lot of offers on great books, currently, I have 13 books with around 10-20% of reading done in each one. Right now I am reading - Dream with your Eyes Open by Ronnie Screwvala.
McKinsey Insights - Arguably the most prestigious consulting firm in the world. So it's evident the strategic articles they share are worth it. The topics range from every industry and it can help any working professionally on their interviews. Generally, the IIM interviewers prefer a whole functional knowledge of the domain and this app helps in that.
Business Insider - Ok, so this App has everything on the world business front. If you guys follow the activities of the World Economic Forum, you can see many sessions held by the editor of a business insider in Davos. Also helps in getting acquainted with the names of the business world and the jargon used.
Well barring all these, I do have an Eckovation App which I had subscribed for last year worth 2k bucks but I didn't find it that worthwhile, although the only good thing is you get a few free materials or you can do training.
If you are looking for Apps for doing maths etc, I would suggest you not to, because that is better done in a PC, to get well accustomed with similar conditions of CAT exam. Try to do all the topic tests too with a timer, because time is the most important factor in CAT.
