I'm confused on which subject should I choose for degree as now I have finished +2. I wanted to clear UPSC. So, Which subject is best for an UPSC aspirant? Is sociology, political science or history is good? which subject is easier for UPSC?

Hello,

For graduation you can choose any one of them because all three are equally difficult and easy. Sociology is more of facts and society, geography on the other hand is a practical subject. Political science is a prominent subject now.
UPSC provides many options to choose as your optional subject including history, geography, political science, sociology, botany, etc. and it is hard to choose one among them. If you will go by number of candidates qualifying UPSC by taking some famous subjects like political science, anthropology and sociology they are among the highest.

But I would prefer you to choose your graduation subject as your optional. It will help you because you will already be having good hold on that subject. And in case your graduation subject is not provided by UPSC you may choose any subject of your interest and you can also refer to the annual UPSC report which has data of all optional subjects and number of candidates qualifying from that subject.
Please choose your optional wisely because optional has highest weightage in the whole exam.

Hello aspirant,

You can take majors Political science or sociology . This subjects help one to crack any government exams like UPSC, SSC CGL and State Public Comission Exams and RRB too. This subjects are very informative and easy to understand.

Furthermore, I would like to say that Any degree or graduation/post-graduation in any subject is alright. For higher education, one should always pursue the subject which one finds interesting and is comfortable with. Academic career and interest should not be compromised for an uncertain and highly competitive career in civil service. So, you can take the subject which I have mentioned above or can take any subjects which is in your interest.

Further, since you are an UPSC Aspirant, you cna follow the below mentioned link to know some best preparation tips :

I hope that this will help.

Choose Subject according to your comfort level.

My advise is to take history as an optional subject only if you are passionate about the subject and want to learn more about it because it has a huge syllabus and difficult questions. Because today's questions demand solid knowledge and analytical skills. The benefit of history is that it is simple to begin studying, can be prepared without coaching, and roughly half of its syllabus must be read for the GS paper I. Don't believe the myths that history doesn't count or that people with history don't make the cut. Choose it based on your interest and comfort level since candidates with over 300 marks in history are available.

Once more, based on familiarity with the subject and after reading the syllabus, pick the optional.

All the best
