I'm confused what is better after 12th commerce stream BA. LLB or BBA. LLB
Greetings,
Akshita ,it all depends various things . First generally when you took commerce as a stream in your 11th standard it is advisable that you take up BBA.LLB as you will be familiar with what you have already studied and it does not matter which graduation course you choose , However if you want to go for civil services or RJS then I would suggest you take BA LLB because majority of the questions which are asked in these papers are from BA course and it would be easy for you to get through them easily .
But on the other hand in this case you need to put in efforts to read a differently new course while taking BBA would be easier that you can focus on law subject more and you need to pay a little less attention because you already know the concept from your higher education (11th and 12th ) . If your motive to take law degree is to work in corporate houses then BBA is little more preferable but still you can get the same oppotunities/jobs in corporate houses even if you take up BA LLB .
So it depends on you after balancing the pros and cons of both sides that if you change you subject from Commerce to humanities , you have to work hard and pay attention to law subjects also which can be tough if you have 10 semesters to handle. Second if you still take up BA after realising all adversities then it will help you in major entrance exams related to law or civil services.
If you stick to BBA it would be easy for you to score in those subjects and pay more attention to your law subjects.
I hope this article might have helped you even after that if you are not satisfied do drop a comment or post another question and I will surely help you out .
Hi Akshita,
The main difference between BA.LLB and BBA.LLB is that BA covers arts subject with law whereas BBA covers business and management subjects with law.
Which one is better? - If you want work with management and business related field then choose BBA.LLB
But if you want to practise law the go with BA.LLB. T he individual get specialized in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions.
I hope this will help!
For making a choice between the two course mentioned, here is some insight upon the difference between the two.
BBA LLB is a 5 year Integrated Law course which will combine and undergraduate degree of BBA along with Law. So normally it would take you 6 years to complete such a course- 3 years for BBA and 3 years for Law but here it is an integrated course completed im 5 years. Similarly in case of BA LLB you combine a BA degree with Law and complete it in 5 years. In BBA LLb the course would be designed in such a way that you study both subjects of BBA and Law and you get an insight of interrelation between Business Administration and areas of Law.
SUBJECTS INVOLVED-
In most of the colleges the first 3 years you study both BBA/BA subjects with Law. And in the last 2 years you will study only law subjects
The basic area of differentiation would be the subjects that you study in the first 3 years. In case of BBA, the subjects are-
Business Mathematics, Business Organization, Organizational Behavior, Business Economics, Statistics, Human Resource Management, Financial management, Marketing Marketing, Risk Management And Other such subjects involved in BBA along with law subjects.
In case of BA LLB you can pursue BA in the following subjects according to your choice-
English, Economics, Political Science,History, Sociology,Psychology
This would depend on the course that the colleges offer.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
While choosing between the two you should know that the career opportunities offered by both the courses do not vary much. A BBA LLB graduate will not have any edge above a BA LLb graduate and vice a versa. The onlu different that the two course make is that in case you further seek to specialise in any filed of law such as Business Laws, Corporate Laws etc you might gain a better hold over the terminologies and basics of the business world. In case you plan to go intoLitigation/Judicial Services/Civil or Law services examsthe choice of course will not matter. In case you decide to pursueCorporate Law,the chances still remain the same, practically. BA graduates have equal opportunities like a BBA graduate. The placements for both are similar. It matters more on the internships, moots, research papers more than the choice of course. So you can even pursue BA LLB while being interested in corporate law. As the colleges like NLU delhi, NLS Bangalore with the highest and best placements in corporate offer only BA LLB.It is just that, in practical terms, a BBA graduate will still have a better understanding and foundation of the management concept.Hence, while deciding between the two you should look at what subjects you are interested it and pursue that course as it will make your entire course more fruitful. Also, make sure that you consider the plans that you have in mind for the future, which can help yoi decide which course you would want to opt. Even though the choice between the two will not cause any huge difference in your career opportunities, but it can help you in specialisation and more.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA-
The eligibility criteria for both course in same in most of the colleges. It ranges between a minimum aggregate of 45-55% marks in your 12th boards to be eligible from any stream. So even a Science, Arts, Commerce graduate can pursue both BA LLb as well as BBA LLb.
