Hello student,

To clear your confusion, analyze two things - are you really desperate to work for your country?  or are you interested in finding out the fun with technology!. The option lies within you. If you go for IAS, one deep understanding required us that it need hard and smart work together with sincerity and dedication. If you are going to give a full year alone, then go for it, because you need at least a year of preparation and another year for the exam itself, since prelims starts in June and personality test comes only in the month of February or March. Finally, one tip, if you are worried about your fees. Either go for a part time job, or do self study. Self study is enough to crack this exam, provided you know what to do and what to avoid. Also, take a few test series and by this way,  you cut off your full coaching fees. Merely joining a coaching institute doesn't ensure your selection. If you understand this, your success is sure.

Good luck
