Hi!
Math is important and helps you keep your options open in choosing a degree and career. A lot of foreign universities require you to do Math in 11th and 12th to apply for certain degrees. If you do not attempt Math then they make you give additional Math papers to get into their university. In India, there is usually no such requirement. CLAT has Math and it is important but it has a relatively small margin compared to the other sections and how they are larger in marks and weightage. For example, the Legal section is very big and in a situation in which someone gets the same marks as you in CLAT, then the Legal section is the first tie-breaker. Whoever gets higher marks, goes through. CLAT Math is very simple and mostly has 10th standard level topics. You can practice them separately for an hour or so every day or for a few hours every now and then and easily do well in it. It is not compulsory for you to do 12th Math in order to do better in CLAT Math. 12th Math takes a lot of time to practice and master so it could eat away at the time you could instead allocate to studying for CLAT considering that your CLAT marks give you the rank that helps you get into a top NLU, your board marks are important, but they are secondary to your CLAT score. If you are good at Math and enjoy it, then keep studying it and do not worry. CLAT is all about identifying your strengths and weaknesses. Maximise your strengths by attempting and mastering the sections you are good at. If you are bad at a section, attempt and master those easy parts in which you know you will do well and fast so that you manage time and do not fall victim to negative marking.
All the best and I hope this helps!
