The duration of gap is completely dependent on you. If you think you will be able to complete the syllabus within a year then you should take one year gap. But if you think completion of the syllabus is going to take more time, then definitely go for a 2 year gap. But keep in mind, taking a drop can be quite an isolating experience as you get less chances to meet with your friends. It acn be frustrating too. So do not forget to take the required breaks for refreshment and relaxation.
