Hard to say whether competition will increase or decrease but yes, with four chances and a frame of time for improvement for serious candidates so yes the chances are that competition will likely increase.
But thinking about these things will give you nothing but unnecessary thoughts and that will affect your performance. The time and opportunity is equal for all the candidates so you must utilize the time in your benefit and give your best without thinking about others.

As due to the covid 19 pandemic the nta has decided to conduct jee mains 4 times in a year. I don't think the changed exam pattern would have any effect on the competition level because students definitely will have more attempts but they won't get much time to prepare for the exam as it is being conducted month after month.

To due the inconvenience that the corona pandemic has put us all in, NTA has decided that the JEE Main 2021 Paper-I will now have 4 sessions . To compute the All India Rank in the JEE Main exam, the best of the four NTA JEE Main 2021 scores will be taken. So it is not because of high competition but to offer flexibility to students and a chance to improve their scores.
