Correct Answer: 900

Solution : Let the number of valid votes be $x$.
According to the question,
$\frac{60x}{100}-\frac{40x}{100}=180$
⇒ $\frac{20x}{100}=180$
$\therefore x = 900$
Hence, the correct answer is 900.
