Correct Answer: 54.5%

Solution : Given: Total students = 1100 boys + 900 girls
Total boys passed = 1100 × $\frac{50}{100}$ = 550
Total girls passed = 900 × $\frac{40}{100}$ = 360
Total students who pass = 550 + 360 = 910
Failed students = 2000 – 910 = 1090
Percentage of failed students = $\frac{1090}{2000}$ × 100 = 54.5%
Hence, the correct answer is 54.5%.
