Honesty, CAT exam is normalized which takes into consideration a score with higher accuracy and least time when there are two students with same marks.
The Normalized process also accounts for sum of the mean and Standard deviationof scores on a particular slot to derive final percentile for candidate.

So accuracy is the key over here rather than achieveing certain score.

For accuracy you can check following strategies.

Getting good score will depend upon how much have you practised and how strong are you in all the areas to qualify with sectional cutoffs as well. So if in any case you're weak jn one department then other departments cannot offset your score. For Preparation tips check below strategies to help you achieve your goals. You have lot of time for Preparation as of now. Apparently, you can join coaching Institute like TIME, Careerlauncher, IMS, CPLC, CATking feom secind year for CAT preparation which can be attempted only from last year onwards with Minimum 50% in graduation as eligibility criteria. Once you start with Preparation, you would need to appear for mock tests to gain enough confidence. You can refer to books by Arun Sharma, Nishit Sinha, TIME Coaching Material for Verbal Ability. Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis is another great book for Word Powers.

See if both the students have almost same marks, one with high accuracy and the other one with low accuracy than the scores are normalized and the one with higher accuracy will get a slightly higher percentile, not a big difference but slightly high in decimals.

If there is score difference then accuracy does not matter high scorer will always get a high percentile than the one with low marks. Greater the difference between the marks of the two students greater will be the difference in the percentile of the two students.

In short if the marks are high you will always get higher percentile irrespective of the accuracy. It's an exam if speed with accuracy. You can't only attempt less question with 100% accuracy because less marks won't fetch you high percentile. You need to do maximum questions with maximum accuracy in the given time to get maximum marks and percentile.

As around a month time is left for CAT exam so you need to quickly brush up with your basics and start giving lots of online mock test and analyse their solutions which will help you in overcoming your mistakes and come up with a strategy to attempt your paper which will definitely help you in improving your marks and percentile. It will also help you in knowing your strength and weakness which will help you in attempting easy questions first that will help you in reducing the chance of errors and missing an easy question which will automatically give you enough time to attempt medium level questions so this will overall improve your speed and accuracy leading to increase in marks and percentile.

All the best for your preparations and exams!!

Sir, in a book I saw that for the same slot, one student having 15 correct, 4 incorrect (41 marks, percentile=92) while other having 13 correct, 1 wrong (38 marks, percentile=98).And it is a national level renowned book, so I am in doubt. Please help me out with proper facts and figures if possible. Please, Sir, Thank You in advance.

Forget about the book it doesn't work like that, there must be some misprint or some other problem. Remove this myth of accuracy from your mind and try to score maximum keeping your accuracy also maximum.
