Hello Bhumik

The questions essentially a numerical and you can expect around 70% of them to be numerical

The wait is mostly is on Mechanics which includes both general mechanics as well as the properties of gravitation and related principles and weighs around 28%.

Electrodynamics in the form of current electricity, static electricity, electromagnetism ways around 22% and includes a number of circuit diagrams so you need to keep yourself well versed with that affairs

Nestle heat and thermodynamics makes up around 11%

Simple harmonic waves and principles of sound as well as optics make up the rest of the 30%

Hope this helps, thank you

I'm mentioning below the split up of the questions that have been asked last year from the various topics along with their weightage in the paper for the same.

ELECTRODYNAMICS - This includes topics like capacitance, current electricity, electromagnetic field, electromagnetic induction, electrostatics.

A total of 10 questions were asked and majority were from electromagnetic field followed by equal weightage of current electricity, EMI, electrostatics.

Total weightage of ELECTRODYNAMICS was 22.22%.

HEAT AND THERMODYNAMICS - includes topics like heat transfer, KTG & Thermodynamics. 5 questions were asked with more emphasis on kinetic theory of gases NAD Thermodynamics. Total weightage was 11.11%.

MECHANICS - includes a major chunk of class 11, comprising of 13 questions in the paper last year. With maximum weightage of gravitation, modern physics, rigid body dynamics. Weightage allocated was 28.89%.

MODERN PHYSICS - includes nuclear physics and semiconductors. 3 questions were asked with a weightage of 6.67%

SHM & WAVES - 4 questions were asked from these topics. 8.89% weightage.

Hope this helps

Hello Bhumika,

In physics, concept is mandatory because it's impractical and very confusing to remember so many formulae. But in the exam you are mostly tested on numericals.

Goodluck.

Hope this helps.

Hi Bhumik Kumar,

By analyzing the past few years papers, it is observed that more weightage is given to the numerical problems and the number of questions directly based on theoretical concepts are lesser. Every year the weightage differs, but the majority of questions asked in Physics are always numerical problems.

Even if the Physics paper is mostly numerical problems and less of theory, one has to study the theory first. Understand the concepts and derivation of formulas. Once you are thorough with this, practice as many MCQs and numerical problems as possible. This is a sure-fire way to score well at the examination.

All the Best.
