Hi Purushotam. My brother just passed out from Computer Science Engineering while studying in Delhi Technological University, Delhi last year. Hence, I hope I will be able to help you in this regard.

In DTU, there are three main Computer Science branches:

• Computer Science Engineering
• Information Technology Engineering
• Software Engineering

All the courses covered are almost the same, except that the priorities and the mission of equipping the students with the course curriculum are different.

Now, Stack Overflow's 2018 recent Developer Survey tells us that:

• DevOps and machine learning are important trends in the software industry today. Languages and frameworks associated with these kinds of works are on the rise, and developers working in these areas command the highest salaries.
• Python has risen in the ranks of programming languages on our survey, surpassing C# in popularity this year, much like it surpassed PHP last year.

You can then see for yourself that the main hot trend goes topics if you want to get a good salary is: data mining and machine learning . Also, the core of these topics is a basic understanding of coding in a particular programming language.

So, I would advice you to first concentrate on these topics. All the best!

Computer engineering is only the course and salary doesn't remain fixed for any particular stream.Just focus on the subject knowledge.

In india we have three major computer engineering courses- computer science engineering(CSE),information technology(IT),computer networking engineering.Among this i suggest you to take computer science engineering(CSE) which consist of many job oppurtunities.

Generally you have 3 - 4 branches to which you get maximum chances of placement like IT, computer and EC etc. Moreover nowadays few more new emerging branches including aeronautical and petroleum engineering also have future scope in India.

As computer engineer you will get on an average 400000/- per annum. But there is still much variation to this figure on both side up and down.

And to talk about computer science and engineering or information technology, you get the chance to secure a higher package as compared to others.

To be honest packages can be as low as 96k p.a to 2.3 crores p.a

In computer engineering, it depends on the college you are choosing which is the best course. In a college like UPES, there are 18 specializations in the field of computer science engineering. Whereas, some colleges provide a combined single course of Computer Science Engineering.

In terms of salary, it depends on the the course which has the most demands and trends at the time of your graduation. It also depends on the college through which you are doing your course and how much you score.
