Hello,

Each branch is equally good in it's own prospects.

As of now IT industry is developing very fast and the placement for CSE and IT branches are too high with good packages.M.E has also a great scope in future as it is always most preferred branch after the CSE/IT/ECE branch.

ECE can be also considered as good option because of having job opportunities in both government and private sectors.

Good luck.

Hello dear,

All beaches are good it is depends upon your interest..Future prediction is tough. If we can predict future, we can train the entire human race for that. So what is more appropriate would be to keep the base strong so that training for any future events would be possible.

In the beginning, there were only three engineering courses: Civil, Mechanical and Electrical. These people got into any engineering work with full comfort and did justice too. But slowly, specialization and cross disciplines (involving more than one core) were introduced in each stream and we see now so many branches of Engineering. Are student in each of those branch working in companies connected with

those branches only? The answer is no. There is an underlying assumption: an engineer in any branch is considered as (a) Engineer first and then (b) specific branch engineer. This is the reason that TCS and the other companies end up taking students of any branch for software development work.

Future potential of an Engineering branch is going to be decided by its capability to solve a current / future problem. Some of the areas listed in various answers to this question are essentially towards solving this problem: cloud, iot, big data, bio, 3D Printing etc.

So, it does not make sense to take one specific area and be prepared in it.

I would rather think that Computer Engineering (but I am not sure if the Colleges / Universities really prepare Students in Computer Engineering - most of them think that Computer Science is synonymous to Software Development) provides a strong base followed by a quick training (even on-the-job) in the specific problem area will have a very good scope in Future. After all, every thing has been reduced to technology and Computer Engineering (not software development alone) is a synonym to that.
