In government jobs like MPSC and UPSC who decides that this candidate will be posted in these cities ?
Hello,
There are 23 different Civil Services, the most popular services are Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Police Services (IPS), Indian Revenue Services (IRS) and Indian Foreign Services (IFS). The allotment of services to successful candidates depends on the rankings obtained in the examination.
- Candidates securing more marks in the compulsory or common papers and the personality test, put together, will be ranked higher if two or more candidates have secured the same overall marks. If the calculated marks are same for the candidates, then the Commission would rank the candidates on the basis of age
- Generally, an IAS/IPS officer cannot get his home cadre. However, there is a very slim chance of it. This is possible only if you get a very high rank and then there are vacancies in your home state for your category in that year. In addition, you should have given your first preference as your home state.
- Candidates can choose their cadre in the descending order of preference as per the alphabetical order.
- Candidates who do not mark their specific zone of preferences will consider that they do not have any preferred zones or cadres of their choice.
hope this helps!!!!
