For getting Into IITs ,Nits and iiits you should have 75% in 12 th as aggregate or you should be in top 20 percentile rank .
It means you should be in top 20 percent students in boards .And it can also be defines as 80 percentage of students should left behind in boards.

Percentile is the number of candidates who have scored marks equal or below the marks which you have scored.
20 percentile means that there are 80% of candidates who have scored above than you.
Admission in NITs/IITs/CFTIs will be given even if a candidate doesn't have minimum aggregate requirement in 10+2 (75% in case of general category and 65% in case of SC/ST/PWD) but is in top 20 percentile of their board exam.
