In mechanical engineering, knowledge of different components and how to design the cars and robots can be understood. Also you can learn about ic engines in automobiles in great detail. But you can't study the electronic part here. So then go for mechatronics. But remember in mechatronics you won't be able to study the ic engines part.

No, with the knowledge of mechanical engineering you can only made cars. To made robot you should have knowledge of many others things I.e programming, artificial intelligence etc .you should do some online courses about how to made robot. There are some online courses of  Eckovation that will teach you about robotics part also. So if you want to made robot than you should have knowledge of electronic and Mechanical engineering both.

Hi there,

Mechanical engineering is not just about the things you study in the courses. You can easily expand your inter-branch knowledge which will be of great use for making robots (robotics is the core part of the electronics branch). For the cars, your course study will definitely be of a greater use.

All the best!
