During admission your category rank will be preferred. Basically all category students are alloted colleges according to their caste ranks and they end up getting good colleges which they may not get through their general rank. But make sure you have all the documents regarding your category ready with you like the non creamy layer, income certificate, caste certificate etc. If you don't have these you would be considered as a general candidate.
