The syllabus taught in first year completely depends upon the college. In most oof the colleges, The subjects in first year mostly are ENgineering Mathematics, Computer 1 and 2( where they will teach a programming language mostly C , C++ or JAVA),Engineering Design( yes even for ECE students), mechanics.

My college Also Taught us Environment science in our first year.

So I would recommend you to refer the academic chart of your college for a complete knowledge of your subjects.

The first year syllabus of B. Tech is common for all the branches so there will not be high-level programming in the first year of the college. In first you might learn C or C++, It depends on the university syllabus. Other subjects you will study in the first year are Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Engineering Chemistry, Computer Fundamentals, Basic Electronics, Mechanics, etc
