in the chapter biomolecules (chemistry class 12), ncert, page no. 417, sucrose forms glycosidic linkage with alpha-c1 of glucuse and beta-c2 of fructose. but the numbering of the carbon atoms of beta fructose is different from the numbering on tge previous page. is that possible??

Hello aspirant,

No, it is not possible. The glycosidic linkage formed is between two -OH groups, each of glucose and fructose. The numbering given is the same. The orientation of the molecule in the book is printed in such a way so that the reader can understand the glycosidic linkage formed from the C2 of the beta fructose. Hence, there is no change in the numbering.
