Airport Customs Officer falls under ‘Group A’ or ‘Class 1’ Officers in Indian Administrative Service. Selection of eligible candidates to this post is carried out through Civil Services Examination (CSAT). Graduation in any stream from a recognized educational institution is the basic qualification required to attend the exam. Those who pass CSAT can get in to the role of Customs Officer under Indian Customs and Central Excise Service (IC&CES).
Eligibility Requirement to become Airport Customs Officer
Aspirants who have completed their bachelor degree from a recognized institute are eligible to apply for the post. The qualifying degree must be obtained in any stream with minimum 55% marks. Those who have completed 21 years of age are only eligible to apply for the post of Customs Officer. Upper age limit of the applicant is 30 years. Candidates belonging to backward category can expect relaxation in age.

First we will talk about what is the job of a customs officer-
Customs officers are responsible for helping to prevent the importation of illegal and/or dangerous goods including firearms, drugs, alcohol, tobacco and endangered animals into the country.
Now the requirements to be one-
- A Bachelor’s degree is the basic qualification. A custom officer who is working under the Government of India should be above 19 yrs and must have completed graduation.
- The aspirant must score above 55% of marks and then only can he/she apply. The admit cards are sent out based on the merit achieved in graduation level.
- Age limit- 18 years old
- Indian citizenship
- Must possess a Vehicle license
- Ability to work flexible schedules
- Have reliable transportation
- Should never have used drugs of any kind
- Must pass an extensive background check
- Must be able to successfully complete all training required for the desired position
- Must be able to activate a radio or telephone equipment and console monitors
- Display an aptitude to cooperate genially and communicate with the community
How to prepare to be one-
To prepare for the Union Public Service Commission exams, the candidate needs to be aware of all the current affairs. His/her General Awareness must be good. Reading of newspapers regularly will be of help. The aspirants should have good knowledge in English, G.K, and basic Mathematics etc as the entire exam is based on these subjects and followed by the selection and interview.
