In this campus chemical engineering course feedback
Hello,
It was established in 1969 and is one of the oldest Engineering branches in Manipal. It has got its reputation ( we have our own building :p ).
I can say that Faculty is not 100% best, not more than 4 to 5 professors are good with their subjects. Professors are really good and are ready to help you.
Course structure is pretty good and equivalent to BITS ( HOD used to be from BITS).
Excellent Chemical Engineering laboratories - Mass Transfer, Heat Transfer and a State of the art Process Control lab.
Computer lab equipped with all the engineering software - CAD, Aspen, Matlab.
Practice School Policy - Students can do their final year projects outside the institution. like - CSIR labs, Honeywell etc.,
Coming to the important section placements - If your goal is to get a job in service/IT industry then it's not a big deal. MIT doesn't have any sustainable relations with process industries so it's a challenge to find core chemical industries in the placement list. To my knowledge, these are the companies I've seen during my 4 years of chemE at manipal :
- Jindal steels
- Grasim textiles
- Reliance ( 8 and above cgpa,recruited 5 chemEs from 2012 batch )
- Mangalore refinery
Hope this helps you.
Good luck
