Prajwal,
Civil Engineering at DTU is considered to be a decent branch because of the following reasons:
1. Easy syllabus- you can easily score a very good percentage which would eventually help you to get an admission in the IIM'S and would give you an edge in non-core companies over students associated with other branches.
2. Brilliant Government Jobs- You can appear for the IES/GATE examination and end up being a part of the best jobs in the country .
3. Civil Engineers also have a decent placement record and I believe anyone with a good percentage and decent communication skills can expect a package between 5-7 lakhs.
4. MS from Stanford- Civil and environmental engineers can do an MS in environmental engineering from Stanford because there is a very less competition in it compared to computer science.
You may not be able to match your pay scales with that of computer science students but a government job in civil engineering offers you a comfortable and happy life in the long run,
And there is no criterion for branch upgradation in DTU . So you will have to stick with civil if it is not upgraded before the spot round.
Whereas CSE is a good branch but taking CSE at YMCA isn't the best of the options though many companies do visit the colleges but they are IT SERVICE sector like ACCENTURE, TCS, WIPRO infosys etc. Big companies like Amazon also visit and offers great packages of about 27 lacs. Companies like Samsung also visit the campus and offer good packages the rest depends on your skill.
I would suggest you if you are really interested in CSE then take CSE at YMCA it will be good for you.
Hope it helps.
