In upsee , what are the benefits of GL list?

Benefits of GL List:

Many times based on your general rank you are not eligible to get a good government college. But girls get benefits due to girl quota which is already reserved for them in UPTU exam. So there is some benefit due to being in general quota. Because of lower rank we are not supposed to get a good private college even but sometimes girls get selected at teh same rank due to seats reserved for them .Let me give you the following examples to tell you how counselling is done in UPSEE;

Just imagine there is a college with 1000 seats out of which the reservation as follows:

1. OBC:250 seats

2. SC/ST: 250 Seats

3. Girls : 100 Seats

4. Freedom Fighters: 50 seats

5. Armed Forces :50 Seats

6. Pwd : 30 Seats

7. General: 270 Seats

and you have got rank of 700 in General and 90 in girls ,so if you see. You will not get the College in the basis of your general rank (because there are only 270 seats in General category and you  have got 700 but because of your girls quota you will get a seat.).

Let us assume a hypothetical situation that 150 girls gave exam , so if you see closely. First 100 will sure shot gets a college and if remaining 50 get a rank under 1000, they will also get a college ( and in this situation a general guy will have to suffer because a general seat Will be less).

So girls have some advantage over boys having same rank. So they can easily get a college. But they must have domicile of UP to get more advantage. The cutoff list depends on the number of students appeared in the exam and the level of paper whether it is easy moderate or difficult. So on the basis of cutoff they are allotted  seats . They have to suffer less accordingly.

In UPSEE, seat is reserved for girls i.e., 20% for the girls of UP. You get your rank as GL not in open category. And I think there is concession in fees.
