Solution :

The cost price of the mixture $=\frac{100}{100+20}×54=\frac{100}{120}×54=45$
Using the rule of alligation, we get the desired ratio.
(48 – 45) : (45 – 40) = 3 : 5
Hence, the correct answer is 3 : 5.
