The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a standardized test widely used for college admissions, primarily in the U.S. and other countries. Commerce students without mathematics can still take the SAT, as the test focuses on general skills rather than specific subjects like maths.

The SAT consists of two main sections:

1. **Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW)**: This section includes reading comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar-related questions. It tests your ability to analyze texts, identify main ideas, and correct grammatical errors.

2. **Math**: While the math section includes topics like algebra, problem-solving, and data analysis, advanced mathematics topics such as calculus are not tested. If you're not strong in math, you can still perform well by focusing on basic math skills. Calculators are allowed in part of this section.

For commerce students without math, it is important to focus on the EBRW section to maximize your score. You can also strengthen your math skills by practicing the basics tested on the SAT, which are generally more accessible than advanced math.

Many universities consider SAT scores alongside academic records and extracurriculars, so a strong performance can still help you stand out, even without a background in math.

hope this helps you!!

Hello Prachi,

SAT is the standardized test commonly used in college admissions. It is primarily used and most popular in the U.S. But SAT tends to be more science or math oriented. However, even commerce students can take the SAT test without math. There are two major sections, namely: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) and Math. However, math comprises only 50% of the overall score, and many institutions, especially the liberal arts, tend to highlight the EBRW score when it comes to non-STEM programs such as business, economics or social sciences.

Commerce students with not so great a background in maths can also shine through in the test so long as they pay attention to the reading and writing as well as comprehension areas, where they will be tested on the use of their critical and analytical thinking and vocabulary skills. The prep in the area of math that applies algebra and problem-solving data analysis would still be an important prep but students can choose tutoring or prep courses to help in this regard.

Also, most universities are test-optional, or even do not require SAT score at all. This enables more opportunities for the less mathematically eligible students, especially those considered non-technical ones.

Thankyou
