Correct Answer: sublimation

Solution : The correct option is sublimation.

Iodine can be separated from a mixture of iodine and potassium chloride through a process called sublimation. Sublimation is a physical process in which a solid substance transitions directly into a gas without passing through the liquid phase. The steps in this process are : heat is applied to the mixture of iodine and potassium chloride.  Iodine, being more volatile, turns directly from a solid to a gas and rises. Iodine vapors are allowed to condense on a cooler surface. The condensed iodine forms back into a solid on the surface. This way, iodine is separated from the mixture through sublimation.
