Founded in 1998 it is a teaching-cum-affiliating university which affiliates 84 colleges in Delhi-NCR and has 15 schools and centres. The medium of instruction is English to meet the international language standards.The university has been graded 'A' by NAAC.

IPU CET is Indraprasatha University Common Entrance Test conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprasatha University, Delhi. It is a public and professional University. The test is conducted for admissions into various courses in engineering, management and others to its affiliated colleges.

IPU is a semi-government University which means that the main campus is under the Delhi government and all the other institute that are affiliated to the university can either be private or government as well. If you get admission in the main campus your salary would be like peanuts but if you get admission in a affiliated institute then you will have to pay a fair amount because that institute is private and they charge money for education and are not backed by the government.
