Is 12th marks are important for collage placements?
It depends on which course or University you are applying for some University take admission on the basis merit and some on the basis of entrance exam.

Universities either take your admission on the basis of the marks or merit obtained in class 10+2 or the basis of the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
However after completing your degree when you go for placements your 12th standard marks are important only to a certain degree because the companies will prefer more onto your marks in the college and your overall data. They will be an added bonus to you but they wont be the only defining criteria.
Try to score as good as possible so that you can get a college of your choice and use the marks to show your consistency even further after college but if you dont stay positive and work hard in your college years.

For placement only your graduation marks is required. The 12th Marks doesn't effect your placements in any way.
Most of the companies wants to see the 12th marks for the eligibility criteria. They need a 60% marks in 12th, but it does not require for placement. So if you have 60% marks in your 12th then you are eligible for all companies in India.
