Hi
Whether 12th marks is important or not for admission in graduation depends upon:-
* the course you want to take admission in
* The college you want to take admission in.
For example,
If you want to take admission in Engineering then colleges offer admission in their courses through entrance examination and there's not much role of your marks obtained by you in 12th examination, it is just required to make you eligible for the entrance exam.
For instance,
if you want to get admission in NIT for engineering then to be eligible you need at least 75% marks in aggregate in class 12 if belong to general or obc category or at least 65% marks if belongs to SC/ST .
So, your 12th marks is required just to make you eligible but your admission is completely dependent on the rank obtained by you in JEE Mains examination.
But,
If you want to get admission in BSc etc then admission is generally based on the marks obtained by you in 12th board examination and your board examination marks becomes very important, as admission in Delhi University you need at least 95 + percent to get a decent college.
So, it all depends upon the college and course.
