The basic eligibility of NIT says that you need to have secured a minimum 75% marks in class XII or equivalent exam or be in the top 20 percentile in their class XII exam conducted by the respective board. For SC/ ST candidates, the eligibility criteria are to secure 65% marks in class XII or equivalent exam.

So in case you are a general candidate and have secured less than 75% marks in 12th and are not in top 20 percentile you are not eligible for NIT.

Yes,the 75% aggregate is necessary in the board's and there is 10% relaxation for SC/ST.If one doesn't satisfy this criteria then it will be a problem for him/her.then you can apply for the improvement of boards if you want to take a year drop and score well to get good College.So,make sure you can score above this range.All the best.and stay motivated.

Hiiii Shreya!!!! Yess  a score of 75% is compulsory along with JEE mains score to get admission in any nit. 75% is minimum percentage for general category and for SC, St and PWD candidates, its a minimum percentage of 65%. Hope this helps you. All the best!!!!
