Is BA hons better or engineering for upsc?
Hello Sara,
It is not that BA Hons is better than B. Tech or anything if your main target is UPSC. But it does have an advantage that BA Hons is a bit easier and requires less time towards it as compared to engineering so you have more time to study for the main goal that is UPSC.
All The Best.
BA and BA Honours both are a good options for UPSC CSE. It will help you while preparing for prelims and mains exam.
In BA course you have to study three different subjects say political science, history and geography, means 50% of the syllabus has also been covered if you take Pol science as your optional then around 40 % already covered. So doing a BA course will increase your chances. Now coming to BA honours programme, in this programme you have to study Pol science deeply which will help you in mains as we all know the difficulty level of optional is of higher than bachelor level but lower then masters level so it will you in great extent. But then you will study only two subjects in the bachelor programme so you have to study the third subject on your own.
So as per my view, you should go for BA general course, but as we all know UPSC is all about extreme hard work, luck proper planning, guidance and other factors. Make your own decision, work hard.
GO GREEN, PLANT TREE
BA hons would be a better option for you if you are targeting for UPSC. The subjects you'll study there will give you advantage as compared to Engineering because in Engineering the subjects are completely different from what is generally asked in UPSC.
Good luck
