Dear aspirant;
Well first of I truly hope that you are willing to take up Engineering because you are passionate about the subject. Secondly, tuition only helps as long as you are prepared to give your 100% effort. Merely attending a tuition without commitment wont get you anywhere. Thirdly, yes many people do crack entrance exams without any external help. Are they superhuman? Nope! They just worked their socks off to achieve their goal. And I believe that everyone can if they are determined enough!
So coming back to WBJEE. You will be tested on three subjects, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
Mathematics is the most important paper in WBJEE. Even if you do not score satisfactorily in Physics or Chemistry, if your Mathematics score is high you you get a very good rank.
First of all you have to Practice - A LOT! This helps with two things : confidence (the more you practice the less chance of you committing silly mistakes) and speed (mathematics papers is always a bit lengthy and every second counts!)
Few books are better for WBJEE Mathematics than S.N. Dey. I suggest you stick to this book. Both theory and numerical problems have been covered extensively in S.N. Dey.
Finally when you have completed you syllabus you must start solving the previous years’ Mathematics papers. While solving the papers, NEVER use a calculator and always try to solve the paper within the stipulated time.
Physics and Chemistry are generally the easier papers. The marks in Physics and Chemistry of students securing decent to good ranks do not vary that much.
Thank you.
All the best.
