Biotechnology is a great course after 12th if you are interested in the field because the course work is very difficult anywhere in India and specially if you are from a maths background.

But if you are interested in this field I would suggest to not have second thoughts about it, about the field it is highly interdisciplinary and involves elements of all subjects in it.

I would suggest you to go for a B.Tech course if you are eligible in one or go for B.Sc if not B.Tech, aim for IISERs ,IITs and NITs.

If you are planning to go abroad then this course will be very fruitful for you if your interest leans towards biological sciences and the scope of this course is very big outside India and its still developing field in India , basically is the building step towards a specialized field in post grad education like microbiology, biochemistry,bioinformatics, genetics, teaching biological sciences, research and development in biological sciences, biomedical,bio engineering etc.

Yes biotechnology is a good option after 12th but choosing it before make sure you have interest in microbiology and you are interested in working under microscope. All the options are good but you should have interest for that particular field.
