Hi,
Biotechnology-if you are interested in this field then it has scope beyond comparison to any other field but you need to accept which side you want to go academic or business because after doing a graduate program in biotechnology (I recommend B.Tech over BSc any day) then you can choose to go do a Management degree or mba and then go in that field but if you are interested in Research and development side of this subject then I would say that this is a field that has alot of sub branches and is highly interdisciplinary in nature.
So do a B.tech from a very reputed college in India, then you have to do a post grad atleast (PhD would be best even integrated msc-phd) , though India is still in a developing phase in view of this industry still it's good , you can always aim for a post grad outside India in usa,France, Germany, etc.
In India is very very difficult to get a job in core biotech or pharma companies just after graduating because RnD requires atleast a master's , but if you are from an IIT or NIT then you can get in a core company like biocon,Serum Institute of India,Panacea, etc.

if you compare B.tech Biotechnology and B.Sc Biotechnology, which one is a more better and a suitable undergrad course for complete research oriented students?

Dear aspirant,

Each and every is good. It depends upon how much determined and dedicated you are towards your study. There is a lot of scope in biotechnology after completing your B.tech but majority of people in India will speak against a career in biotechnology. Another harsh fact is that the biotechnology job market in India is indeed very competitive. If you're passionate about biology/biotechnology, then this shouldn't stop you.

Some of the career opportunities are mentioned below:

  • Possibilities in Intellectual Property Research and Patenting:
  • Job in R&D: companies like Biocon, Dr. Reddy's, Strand Life Sciences and other such Biotech companies.

All the best..!!

Are job opportunities available just after doing B.tech or should we continue further studies?
